Children grow fast, and what they enjoy changes with them. A rough guide:

0-12 months

Things to grasp, shake and mouth: rattles, soft toys, smooth wooden shapes.

1-3 years

Stacking, posting, pushing and pulling: stackers, blocks, pull-along toys and simple puzzles.

3-5 years

Small worlds and stories: animals, figures, dolls' houses, and first crayons.

5 years and up

Making things: drawing, building bigger, games with rules.

Every child is different; let them lead.
